Yes, you read that right ... real 24 carat gold-plated butterflies & other taxidermy.
People sometimes ask me ... why do you work with real prepared butterflies ?
All of the real Butterflies i use in my Butterfly Artworks have been raised on natural cruelty free tropical farms around the world. They died of natural causes there and were carefully collected.
A butterfly that has died naturally has naturally suffered damage to its wings and colors in its life. I prepare the butterflies with all the love and craftsmanship and gild them with pure 24 carat gold leaf. I always leave the back intact so that you can see that the butterfly has also retained its natural beauty on that side.
In short: my love and passion for butterflies and gilding ... come together completely in my unique collection of gilded butterflies & taxidermy.
